American comic Omid Singh will be topping a bill that also includes some of the UK's fast rising talents at the latest comedy night in Diss.
The US stand-up comedian, based in Los Angeles, was raised in a multicultural family, half Indian-half Iranian, and he has lived in more than a dozen different cities across two continents.
Singh’s childhood found him living in far-flung locations ranging from San Diego, ten years in Dubai, a year in fiercely conservative Katy, Texas, and back to the liberal west coast. His unique upbringing — and rapidly growing facial hair — influence his comedy material.
He has now washed up in the UK for a year – and the latest Diss Comedy Night has bagged him. You could see him doing a solo show at The Comedy Store in Manchester but that’d cost you over £20.
He will be joined by three equally talented comedians. Scott Bennett is one of the fastest rising stars on the UK circuit and tipped as one to watch for his wry observations on the absurdity of modern living with a warm, engaging persona. James Bran is another fast-rising talent in demand on the comedy circuit with a refreshingly different slant on his humour.
MC for the night will be Jojo Smith who made her TV stand-up debut on Craig Charles’ late night ITV show, The Funky Bunker. She now regularly tops the bills at venues all over the UK.
