Some of South Norfolk’s most talented young musicians will be performing a concert in Diss ahead of touring the Far East.
South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band, which is based in Diss and has around 50 members, will be performing its 'Malaysia Tour Showcase' at Diss Corn Hall ahead of touring to the country next month.
There they will host music workshops with school children in Seremban, Kuala Lumpur and Kuching whilst playing concerts to raise money for local charities.
The concert will feature a preview of of the new music they will play in Malaysia and proceeds from the show will go toward funding the SNYSB trip.
Formed by Mike Booty, who is still chairman and musical director, the band has raised many thousands of pounds for charities and regularly gives around 30 concerts each year. They have twice played to HRH The Princess Royal, once in the Royal Albert Hall, as well as performing 'Tubby the Tuba', narrated by the late Roy Castle, and performed in Europe.
