The summer may not be long gone but thoughts for some people are already turning to next year with plans beginning for Diss Carnival 2019.

The team behind a town carnival have already revealed a pun-laden theme for next year’s event — Pre-Diss-Toric — so expect plenty of dinosaur and cavemen themed costumes.

The event, which always attracts thousands of spectators and is key date on the town’s calendar, will be taking place on June 9, 2019.

And people who just can’t wait to get involved can now register their interest and say how they would like to take part in the fun.

Organisers have released an application form. So if you want to join in the procession, perform at the fun day, become a volunteer or want to book a stall you now can.

This summer’s Diss Carnival and Fun Day’s theme was Water Wonderland, in honour of Diss Mere. Mermaids, pirates and gigantic ducks were spotted dancing in the parade.

More than 50 stall and rides pitched up at the park with thousands taking part in a number of games including lightsaber sessions with the Norwich Star Wars Club Jedi Academy, tug of war and water relay race.

The carnival procession began at Diss High School, through the Market Place and onto Mere Street before the festival spread across Diss park.
