Talented young musicians from South Norfolk will perform their annual Christmas concert at the United Reformed Church on Mere Street this Sunday.

The concert by the Diss-based South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band (SNYSB) is open to all and will see them perform many Christmas favourites and then some sing-a-long carols during the second half.

Refreshments will be served during the interval, including teas, coffee and mince pies, and there will be a special festive raffle.

Formed in 1974 by Mike Booty, who is still chairman and musical director, SNYSB has featured generation of budding young musicians from South Norfolk. Although primarily a youth band, they welcome woodwind, brass or percussion musicians of all ages and skills.

The band recently performed alongside the prestigious Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth at a concert in Norwich, the culmination of a day of workshops with the Royal Marine musicians at the band’s base at Diss Youth & Community Centre.
