Folk will go festive when celebrated duo Paul Sartin and Paul Hutchinson bring their joint project Belshazzar’s Feast for a Christmas-themed show to Diss.
Mixing traditional folk music and seasonal material, they add a touch of classical and jazz, throw in a bit of pop and music hall, and top it off wry humour for a unique live experience that has made their seasonal tours festive favourites.
Paul Sartin (accordion) is best known as a member of the multi-BBC Radio 2 Award-winning big band Bellowhead and of Faustus.
Paul Hutchinson (oboe, violin and vocals) is the founder member of the innovative and progressive folk band, The Playford Liberation Front. His highly successful folk trio Hoover the Dog morphed into the Pagoda Project.
They have performed together as Belshazzar’s Feast for more than 20 years now with their mix of amazing musicianship coupled with wry humour making them folk loving fan favourites around Europe and in America. Their eclectic and eccentric mix of tunes and between songs chat always sends the audience home with a smile on their face.
Belshazzar’s Feast received a coveted nomination for the Best Duo Award at the 2010 BBC Folk Awards. Their Christmas-themed album titled Stocking Fillers was released in 2012.
