Following the recent wet weather, long days spent by the pool may seem like a wistful day dream but for some, an old photograph of Diss pool has conjured up fond memories of lazy poolside days of yore.
An image of The Blue Wave Swimming Pool in Diss, taken in 1956 shared on the Enjoy Diss Facebook Group has lead many members of the group to share their memories of the swimming pool.
Kim Jones remembered the pool fondly, she said: “Spending all day everyday of the sunny summer holidays swimming, chilling with friends and family, eating squashed jam sandwiches, Bumshies ice cream and buying sweets from the shop. Bliss!”
Gill Steward Hancock added: “I loved swimming there when there was a storm, some of my favourite times when I was young, were there. We could spend all day swimming & sunbathing, then go for chips at the Rendevous Cafe next door.”
But some members of the group had slightly less rose tinted memories Kay Martin said; “Horrid damp cold changing rooms, being numb with cold and enjoying a hot Bovril from the shop. Would not have missed it for the world practically lived there all summer getting great use out of my season ticket.”
