How your shopping can help give Diss the carnival spirit

It may be months away yet but there is planning of going into making sure this summer’s Diss Carnival tops last year’s record breaker.
And now you can help to keep the day a free community event on your shopping trips. The Tesco Bags of Help programme has selected Diss Carnival as a worthy cause for their local grant scheme.
Anyone shopping in Tesco in the town can put their token into the Diss Carnival voting box. The project that receives the most votes in its area will receive a grant of up to £4,000, second place up to £2,000 and third place up to £1,000.
Last year, as many as 7,000 people flocked into Diss to enjoy the colourful ‘Water Wonderland’ parade and Fun Day afterwards on the Park. The day was a huge success, thanks in large part to the hard work of the carnival committee and a number of volunteers.
This year’s event will be taking place on June 9, 2019 with a pun-laden theme — Pre-Diss-Toric — so expect plenty of dinosaur and cavemen themed costumes.
The carnival is completely free entry- and the organisers would like to keep it that way so every little helps. As well as shoppers anyone else who would like to support the carnival (and future carnivals) financially, can enquire about our various sponsorship packages.
