Diss district councillor Graham Minshull has been elected chairman of South Norfolk Council.
Mr Minshull, who was re-elected to represent the town at last month's local elections, was named chairman of the authority at the council's AGM.
Councillor Florence Ellis, who represents the Newton Flotman ward, was elected to the post of vice-chairman; while Councillor John Fuller, who represents Brooke, was re-elected as South Norfolk council leader for the 12th year.
Mr Minshull, who is also a former Diss town councillor as well as serving as Diss Mayor, said that it was an honour to be elected to the role and aimed to "bang the drum for Diss, Roydon and South Norfolk".
He named the charities that he would be supporting during his time in office: Muscular Dystrophy UK and The Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity.
Meanwhile new Diss Town Mayor, Cllr Sonia Browne, has also chosen her charities for this Mayoral year. She will be fundraising in aid of PAPYRUS (Prevention of Young Suicide) and Norfolk's Big C cancer charity.
