A junior school is looking forward to a new future as it launches as an academy next month.

New executive headteacher Jo Cerillo joined Diss Church of England Junior School earlier this term to take the school forward into a new era.

The school has now joined the St Benets Academy Trust, a new multi-academy trust set up by the Diocese of Norwich.

Mrs Cerullo, who moved from Kent for the role, said: “I love it in Diss and the children are wonderful and so well behaved and the community has been incredibly welcoming.

“The new academy will be building on all the good work that has already happened.

“The school is already in a much much stronger place than before.”

The official first day of the new academy will be on Friday June 1 and Dickleburgh Primary School, however Diss Infant School will remain in its current form despite being in a joint federation with the junior school since 2014.
