Recycling met remembrance when Diss brownies and guides used bottles to make 100 poppies to help mark the armistice of the First World War.

The 1st Diss Rainbows and Brownies and 2nd Diss Guides and Senior Section had been busy making poppies out of plastic bottles in the run up to the centenary commemorations.

Their display of 100 poppies was placed on a tree outside St Marys church in Diss to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War.

As part of the project all the groups also found out what it was like to live in wartime including making recipes with rationed ingredients.

With the help of the Girlguiding Norfolk Guide Archive Resource Centre, the guides got to see what it was like to dress up in uniforms dating back to war times.
