With the recent heatwave expected to come to an end residents in Winfarthing were making the most of it out in the sunshine raising money for charity.

Nearly 100 people made their way to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) at Winfarthing for an afternoon tea full of strawberries and scones.

Diss Friends raised £1,700 from the afternoon with Tesco in Diss donating the strawberries.

David Beale, from Diss Friends, said: “Diss Friends would like to thank everybody involved in making it such a special day.

“The ladies serving the table did a wonderful job as did our magical scone maker.”

EACH started the building work on its Nook hospice project in Framingham Earl in November last year. This will replace its 26-year-old Quidenham base.

The charity cares for children with serious and life-threatening conditions awhile offering support to families.
